The Dalai Lama in the U.S.

Thursday April 10, 2008

His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Seattle today to attend the Seeds of Compassion conference, which begins Friday. His Holiness will take part in a panel discussion called "The Scientific Basis for Compassion: What We Know Now" at 9 am Pacific Coast Time. The conference will be webcast. His Holiness also will be interviewed by Ann Curry on NBC's "Today Show" Friday morning.

After the Seattle conference, His Holiness will be giving teachings and public talks in Ann Arbor, MI, and Hamilton, NY, before returning to Dharamsala.

About.com Guide Bridget Johnson has been reporting on the Olympic torch relay for About.com World News and Journalism. The relay has been disrupted by Tibetan activists. "Bush Asked to Remember the Journalists" discusses the news blackout in Tibet. See also "Torch Run Makes for Some Confused Journalists" and "Olympic Torch Relay Nearly Snuffed in London."

Speaking of the torch relay -- yesterday one of the torch bearers, Andrew Michael, carried a Team Tibet tag in his sleeve.

I am glad that Buddhist masters and monks have been speaking out against the violence used by the secessionists, saying it is anti-Buddhist. I just wish about.com would report on this side of Buddhism too. Source: http://ecumenicalbuddhism.blogspot.com/
