"Buddhist Camp"

There was a lovely segment about Green Gulch Farm on CBS "Sunday Morning" yesterday. Green Gulch Farm is a Zen practice center just north of San Francisco, affiliated with the San Francisco Zen Center. If you missed "Sunday Morning" too, you can see the segment online and also read a synopsis of it.

The segment stresses "getting away from it all," interviewing former "high achievers" who left money and acquisition behind for the simple life of Zen farming. It comes close to reducing Buddhism to a stress management program. However, the segment provides glimpses of Buddhism as spiritual practice as well.

One of the residents interviewed, Daline Limbaugh, said, "My mother calls this Buddhist camp." Cute.
