Buddhism Awareness Week in Kansas City!
Here's a big shout-out to the Kansas City sangha, which has organized a week of programs and activities to raise awareness of Buddhism in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Activities include a special tour of the Buddhist art collection at the Nelson Atkins Museum, a talk by Lama Surya Das, and a viewing of the film “10 Questions for The Dalai Lama.”
I think this is a marvelous idea, especially if several Buddhist groups in an area pool their resources to offer a variety of programs. This could not only raise awareness of Buddhism, but also would be great for people who might be interested in Buddhism but who are shy about making that first visit to a Buddhist temple.

This is indeed a great idea. I think there are many out there who would like to know more about Buddhism but who are intimidated by making that first move. I’m a teacher, retired now, but I would have loved to have taken my students to something like the art exhibit.
