This is a difficult question to answer, as worded. I practice Buddhism because it fits with the ways I already believed. It has done much to clarify my thinking, but I don’t believe my basic opinions and attitudes have changed much at all. If anything I am rather more tolerant of opposing views than I used to be. So I checked “a lot” because of my basic value system’s agreement with Dharma. Still, I’m not quite satisfied with that.
In any case, I haven’t voted for a Republican since Nixon’s first term, and that’s not about to change any time soon.
Oh, what the heck, it’s only a poll…
The Democratic view of tolerance and of equality for all people, and the desire for peace, seems in line with Buddhism, so while I can’t say that one influences the other, they’re definitely compatible. I voted Some.
