Today begins the Chinese year 4708, which is a year of the metal rabbit. I understand New year festivities in China include elements of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, and it's not clear to me if Chinese astrology is associated with any of those traditions. But happy metal rabbit year, anyway.
