Jukai

Definition:

"Jukai" is Japanese for "receiving the precepts." Jukai is a ceremonial initiation into Zen Buddhism. Usually the initiate will have studied the Precepts with a Zen teacher. In the ceremony, the initiate vows to keep the Three Pure Precepts and Ten Grave Precepts.
