The BBC's James Reynolds reported a "staggering" security presence in Lhasa during the Olympic torch relay. Tibetan activists had demonstrated along the relay route in many parts of the world. The Tibetan leg of the relay originally was scheduled to take place over three days. Instead the torch was paraded briefly through Lhasa amid heavy security.
