This Tibetan child may grow up in a Tibet that is, culturally, less and less Tibetan. Many accuse the Chinese of committing cultural genocide in Tibet. Since Tibet came under the rule of China in the 1950s, Tibetans have been forced to assimilate to Chinese culture, and so many Chinese have moved into Tibet that Tibetans are becoming an ethnic minority in their own country.
