Eight Worldly Conditions

Definition:

The Eight Worldly Conditions were named by the Buddha and recorded in the Lokavipatti Sutta of the Pali Canon. The mindful person neither welcomes these conditions nor rebels against them. They are:

  1. Gain
  2. Loss
  3. Status
  4. Disgrace
  5. Censure
  6. Praise
  7. Pleasure
  8. Pain
